If you have a question about Suicide Girls don't hesitate to contact me. I had a lot of fun researching and writing the book and am happy to share the background information.
How did you come up with the idea for Suicide Girls?
I was on vacation in Mexico in February of 2013 when I caught a nasty flu bug and was stuck in our apartment for ten days. As I was sitting on our balcony watching the whales the idea for the novel came to me. I started researching suicide girls and came across the subject of Kinbaku/Shibari. This ancient Japanese discipline intrigued me and thought it would be perfect for the lead character be a proponent of Kinbaku/Shibari. Once I returned to Toronto I started the novel.
Why did Amira become a sex therapist?
Always fascinated with society's attitudes to sex and the restrictions put on the subject Amira wanted to contribute in her own small way by providing an honest unbiased attitude to the area.
What is Shibari/Kinbaku?
A form of rope bondage that originated from Japan. Considered BDSM but the fans enjoy the spiritual and close connections that develop between the two participants during a session.
Will we see more of Snow in the next novel?
Undecided but I have planned a Snow Given novel in the future.
Where is the book set?
Toronto. I was born and lived my entire life in the Toronto area. I want to outline the various areas and the multicultural nature of the city.
