My Introduction to Kinbaku

When the idea for the book first occurred I wanted the main character to not only be a Suicide Girl but be quirky and involved in an activity that was not mainstream. During my research I met Sughra, who was not only a Suicide Girl but was involved in the discipline known as Kinbaku/Shibari, which is a form of bondage perfected in Japan. I soon discovered that this form of bondage has gotten a strong foothole in the fetish world in the western world.

Through Sughra I got invited to a special exhibit of Kinbaku which was being hosted by Osaka Dan in his small apartment. He had a Master in the disipline visiting him from Japan. As he displayed various techniques and ties to the participants (me excluded) I was furiously taking notes. As the evening progressed, a small room of under 20 people, pairs of riggers and bottoms would team up and each couple would do various ties. It was at this point I knew Amira would embrace Kinbaku.

In the next blog I will explore the spritual nature of Kinbaku and Shibari.
